THE CHATELAINE CONNECTION is a contemporary, suspense novel about criminal biogenetic stem-cell research performed on innocent victims. A simple story? No, intriguingly complex!
The Prologue is written to grab the reader's attention and imagination about a single character dislocated from her normal life. It raises questions for the reader about the character: Who is this person? Where is the scene taking place? Why does it appear the character was taken from her natural lifestyle where everything in her past is forgotten? What is happening to her? More to the point, who is responsible for her being in that setting?
The storyline begins in London where the two main protagonists, Emma Gray Llewelyn, an English Barrister, practicing international law in E.G. Llewelyn, Ltd, and her grandfather Cyrus MacKenna, owner of a well known horse farm in Wales, called Lyn Brienne, are introduced. In Chapter One the story begins shaping the foundation for the main plot. In the following few chapters, significant historical background explains the basis for the storyline to give foundation and credence to Emma's and Cyrus's unusual paranormal Welsh traits, as well as clarifying the dynamics within the MacKenna family clan. The action picks up when Emma agrees to represent a woman from a prominent Italian family from Milan. Emma must travel to Milan, Italy where the major division of the tale unfolds. As the narrative evolves, the two protagonists each have a job to carry out—different yet similar and both plagued with danger. Interpol has been pursuing the source of the criminal stem-cell research for two years; the case takes Cyrus, an Interpol agent, a fact hidden from Emma all her life, to Milan to investigate Marcus Rudolphi—the husband of Emma's client, Lucinda Rudolphi. Bizarrely, the saga propels these two protagonists toward the same treacherous results–discovering where stem-cell research is performed–how the Rudolphi family is involved. The reader will soon comprehend how the criminal research personally affects Emma as well as her client, Lucinda Rudolphi.
Two other important supportive characters—Dillon O'Rourke, private investigator, and Carlos Esteves, Interpol agent—are circumspectly introduced in early chapters, revealing they once shared a past life, and now the Chatelaine Connection brings them together again. These two men play a crucial role in Emma's life in a very diverse way. As the novel describes the many convoluted twists and turns of the saga, the narrative subtly discloses insight into the former queries raised in the Prologue. The final setting returns to Wales, where veiled details from the past are made clear to the reader in a climatic, spellbinding finale.
The novel concludes revealing each character's association to the Chatelaine Connection—except for one secret! The reader may ask, What is the significance of that one secret?
The Epilogue gives the reader insight who will discover that secret, and if it's linked to the Chatelaine Connection?
You must read THE CHATELAINE CONNECTION to learn that final answer.
